May Your Roads Reach

Closing the Teach For America Blogging Gap
Dec 12 2012

Hi there!

My name is Gina, and I am proud to say that I am a Teach for America 2013 corps member!  I have been assigned to the Greater Newark region, with a tentative placement in secondary special education (English).  I’m not quite sure what that will end up looking like, so for now I just put high school English as my placement.

I’m currently working on my M.Ed. in secondary education at Lehigh University, where I also completed my BA in English this past May.  Right now I am finishing up my final projects for my Fall 2012 classes (starting this blog is the perfect procrastination technique), and next semester I will be student teaching!  I couldn’t be more excited to be spending 14 full weeks in the classroom!  I’ll likely be posting more about that experience prior to teaching through TFA–I’m going to be teaching English 12 at a local public school, which is 12th grade British Literature.  I’ve always preferred American lit over Brit lit, so this will be an interesting challenge.

So far, I have loved reading other Teach For Us blogs.  You all have such inspirational stories, and your passion is obvious.  I’m looking forward to becoming an active member of the TFA community as well a member of this blog community.
